More on Changes to the Division of Student Success

This email is to follow up on last week’s announcement about the retirement of Registrar Dacia Sedillo and the transfer of Associate Vice President Seth Miner to NMSU Global. As with all changes, our commitment to students and their success will continue. The changes outlined in this email support that unwavering commitment.

The Office of Financial Aid, led by Director Melissa Magnuson, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Transfer Services, led by Director Danielle Staley, will report directly to Dr. Renay Scott, VPSS.  Dr. Scott is looking forward to providing leadership as we continue to evolve our undergraduate recruitment strategy and financial aid and scholarship services model to meet the needs of current and future Aggies.

The Office of Student Records will continue to report to Dr. Scott. Dacia Sedillo’s retirement date is February 29, and we will announce an interim Registrar before that date.

To support these transitions, Dr. Scott will split her time between Corbett Center and Education Services.

Aggie Welcome Orientation and Family Programs will move into the Department of Student Life, reporting to Dr. Sarah Edwards, Director of Student Leadership and Involvement Programs.  Dr. Edwards will provide leadership and vision to weave together Aggie Welcome and Orientation, Move-in Weekend, extended orientation opportunities, and Crimson Kickoff, while exploring opportunities to include First-Year Experience (FYEX) courses, a common read, and student convocation in collaboration with Dr. Patrick Turner, AVP, First Year Initiatives. Future programming in these areas will also include strategic expansion of support for families of first-year students.

The Aggie One Stop will report to Melody Munson-McGee within the Office of the Vice President of Student Success. This reporting change will provide the Aggie One Stop an opportunity to expand their service model as they continue to delivery high quality support and service to students, faculty, and staff.

As was announced by Provost Shoho in early January, International Student Scholar Services will report to Dr. Renay Scott until they transition to the Associate Provost for International Programs and Dean of Graduate School in early 2024.

The higher education sector is ever changing, and we must continually evolve and improve to fulfill our mission and to attract students to campus in the competitive climate of recruitment. Together, let's take these changes as an opportunity to explore how we can surpass our stakeholder's expectations.
