RE:       Planning for weather

Dear colleagues,

Adverse weather is predicted for our region for the next few days. Rain is expected tonight, and temperatures will then drop below freezing with snow expected for tomorrow. While the winter wonderland will doubtless be beautiful, road conditions could be treacherous.

Please take the time now to discuss contingency plans for your office. Some offices are planning to work from home for the next day or even two. Offices that rely on an on-campus presence should discuss how they will staff the workplace in the case of a weather emergency. One of the lasting lessons from our pandemic experience is that when needed, many of us can work very effectively from our homes.

I thank you for being proactive and flexible regarding meeting student and staff needs throughout the storm. Please ensure that students working in your offices are aware of your plans, and note that any decisions could be pre-empted by additional direction from the Chancellor’s Office.
