Last week (November 4–11), the Aggie Health and Wellness Center offered the NMSU community a chance to learn about diabetes and assess their own risks for the disease. Diabetes affects over 200,000 New Mexicans, so early detection is an important tool in treatment.
All week, the Center offered a discount on lab work to measure hemoglobin A1C, which assesses an individual's average blood sugar level, and a comprehensive metabolic panel, which provides information about kidney and liver health, fluid and electrolyte balance, metabolism, and glucose levels.
Although this is an annual event, NMSU faculty, staff, and students can make an appointment for testing at the AHWC by calling (575) 646-1512. Watch for announcements in the Hotline for future events at AHWC dedicated to keeping our NMSU community safe and healthy. AGGIE UP!
