Freddie Romero to be honored at Founder's Day

At the April 24, 2024 Founder’s Day celebration, the Division’s Freddie Romero, Advisor Team Lead, in the Center for Academic Advising and Student Support will be honored with the “A” Mountain award. This award is presented to an employee who exemplifies NMSU’s core values of leadership; excellence; access; diversity and inclusion; and student-centered.

Freddie is an NMSU alumnus, with a BA in Government (2015) and a Masters in Public Administration (2020). He started with NMSU working as a Student Peer Mentor for TRIO Student Support Services-Classic, then transitioned into a Graduate Mentor with Student Success Navigator program and joined CAASS as an Academic Advisor in 2017.

Freddie’s selection keeps the award in CAASS for the third time in a row, and the fourth time in the past two years. Previous recipients include Aitiana Zamora, Academic Advisor (Spring 2022), Marissa Fowler (Spring 2023), Associate Director and Victoria Banuelos (Fall 2023), Lead Academic Advisor. Congratulations to the staff at CAASS for their exemplary work and dedication to NMSU’s Core Values.

The picnic will be held Wednesday April 24, 2024 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Trader’s Plaza. Please join the celebration to see Freddie honored for his exemplary service to NMSU and commemorate the founding of NMSU.
