Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Weekly Report

  • Commencement: Marisela Marquez and Gabrielle Martinez, Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management were busy planning the Spring 2016 Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony was a success thanks to the many volunteers from Student Affairs, University Advancement, Academic Colleges, Facilities and Services, University Library, Teaching Academy, and University Accounts Receivable. Commencement celebrations began with the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony on Friday, May 13, 2016. Over 40 Doctoral Candidates attended the ceremony and walked across the stage to have their dissertation read and advisor hood them. On Saturday, May 14, 2016, the Commencement Ceremonies were held. Over 1,600 graduates and undergraduates students participated in the two ceremonies.

The Aggie Shout-Out Videos were displayed on the jumbotron before the ceremony began. Here is the link to the Aggie Shout-Out Videos. Student thanked their famil, friends, staff and faculty from NMSU.

Commencement Spring 2016

  • Hispanic Academic and Leadership: Chicano Programs, together with the Hispanic Faculty/Staff Caucus sponsored this semester´s Hispanic Academic/Leadership Graduation Stole Ceremony. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 11, at Corbett Center´s West Ballroom.  During the event, Dr. Darío Silva, of the Employee Assistance Programs, was honored with a special recognition by the Hispanic Faculty/Staff Caucus. Dr. Hermán García of the College of Education was also honored and will be retiring this May.
  • Chicano Programs Outreach: Laura Gutiérrez Spencer and Lisa Garza of the student organization Planning and Awareness for College Education travelled to Deming on Friday, May 13. This event in Deming was held to present to high school students on the importance of Preparing for College. This program was sponsored by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
