On Saturday September 12, several members of the SAEM Admissions and Financial Aid offices participated in a day-long conference in collaboration with the Bridge of Southern New Mexico, and teachers and counselors from our regional school districts. We enjoyed some excellent dialogue on how we need to work together to strengthen our partnerships with the schools regarding student access to NMSU and NMSU DACC. Dacia Sedillo and Dr. Bernadette Montoya served as members of the planning committee.

Jacobo Varela, Director of Military and Veterans Programs, was one of several students and staff that were recognized during this year’s MVP Volleyball game. The Student Veterans Organization recognized Mr. Varela for his efforts to improve services and programs for Veteran and Military Students at NMSU.

Student Success Navigators and staff members from Offices of Student Information systems and Institutional Analysis attended Ruffalo Noel Levitz training on the College Student Inventory (CSI). The CSI is an online assessment all first year students are taking that is used in individual meetings Navigators are having with students. CSI provides measures of students Academic Motivation, Predicted Academic Difficulty, Educational Stress and Receptivity to Institutional Assistance.
