Dr. Montoya presented Spring 2015 Enrollment data at the Board of Regents meeting on Monday, March 9. She shared predictions on Fall 2015 enrollment and was joined by Dr. Tony Marin to present information on the many facets of Career Services.
Met with Dr. Tania Arana, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine on Monday, March 9. Dr. Arana and Dr. Montoya discussed issues that will affect students enrolled at both NMSU and BCOM.
Attended the President’s Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 10. It was a pleasure to meet with dedicated board members who share their true talent and financial resources to support the President’s Associates Excellence Scholarship.
Met with the Commencement Committee on Wednesday, March 11 to discuss details and changes for the spring 2015 Commencement Ceremony.
Met with Chris Kincaid, a Masters in Public Administration Candidate, on Wednesday March 11 to discuss a study he has been working on with the Military and Veterans Program.
University Admissions, Ms. Delia De Leon
University Admissions hosted NMSU-Alamogordo Admissions Advisor, Elma Hernandez, for a half day of training. As part of the system-wide approach to marketing and student recruitment, we will be collaborating with Elma beginning with the fall 2016 recruitment cycle which begins August 2015.
University Registrar, Dr. Cassandra Lachica-Chavez
The University Registrar’s Office completed a system-wide curriculum review of all current active undergraduate programs. This review compared current year catalogs with the Banner student information system, STAR Degree Audit programming, and the US Department of Education federal student financial aid Program Participation Agreement. A total of 222 active degree programs were reviewed for the Las Cruces campus, and 349 degree and non-degree programs at all four Community Colleges. Discrepancies were identified and all of the reviewed systems and documents will be updated for consistency purposes.
Student Engagement, Dr. Terry Cook
Carol Sullivan, Student Retention Coordinator for the Chase Foundation of Artesia, visited with NMSU Scholars at an event on March 11. Presenters included the Campus Tutoring Service and Aggie Welcome and Orientation programs. Currently, 67 students receive the Chase Scholarship.
The Career Services Department hosted the 12th annual Employment Extravaganza on Wednesday, March 11. Approximately 30 state and regional employers were recruiting for full-time, part-time, and internship positions.
The Student Success Center hosted Ms. Camila Lara, Senior Relations Officer for the Daniels Fund, on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 as part of her on-campus visits with the Daniels Scholars.
NMSU TRiO Student Support Services participant, Jennifer Reyes, was one of eight students statewide to receive the TRIO New Mexico Scholarship.
